Argo (2012) triumphed at the Academy Awards ceremony this year by receiving seven Oscar nominations. The film went on to win three Oscars, Best Writing, Best Film Editing, and the true prize, Best Picture. It was the first time that cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, ASC, AMC, filmed with Hawk lenses ( V‑Lite, V‑Plus, and V‑Series). He was so pleased with the results that he also used Hawk lenses on his upcoming project, The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

After filming on Argo was completed, Zoran Veselic, the 1st Assistant Cameraman (1AC) and the recipient of the 2012 Society of Camera Operators Lifetime Achievement Award as Camera Technician, wrote, "I can't say enough how much we loved the Hawk V‑Lites. We were very impressed with their sharpness, contrast, same amount of fall off and above all, consistency.... Needless to say, I have become a huge fan of them and can't wait to work with them again."
